Medical Marijuana Dispensary Update
Effective with the close of business on July 1, 2010, the City of Denver will cease to accept license applications for medical marijuana dispensaries. The reason for this is the State of Colorado is working on a uniform licensing procedure for medical marijuana dispensaries statewide. The City of Denver is also revising its procedures and plans to have a new process in place when the new State licensing procedure becomes effective on July 1, 2011. The City of Denver is currently planning on a dual licensing system, where applicants will have to be licensed by both the State of Colorado and the City of Denver. The City of Denver is also revising its definition of a care provider, intending to close the loophole which currently allows a care provider to have an unlimited number of clients, not to have to disclose who the clients are, and not to have to provide any care other than the sale of medical marijuana.
For information on the licensing requirements for a medical marijuana dispensary in the City and County of Denver go to:

A medical marijuana dispensary should not be located in a residential neighborhood; however a medical marijuana care provider may be allowed to grow for their clients a specific amount of product in a residential neighborhood.
If you feel there might be an illegal marijuana grow on a residential property call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000.
If you think there might be a medical marijuana dispensary in you neighborhood which does not show up on the above list, feel free to send the address to me and I will contact the Department of Excise and License to determine if there is a pending license application. If there is not a pending license application a City Inspector will be sent to the address to determine its validity. Due to safety reasons, for the possible dispensary and the surrounding neighbors, locations with pending applications will not be posted on this or the City of Denver’s website. However, I will reply to the person making the request.
Send requests to John Brown, Vice Chairman, GVRCAB, at jbrown@mygvr.org.
