Join the Green Team - Upcoming Community Event

Planning has begun for the Green Valley Ranch Earth Day Celebration on April 17, 2010. Last year we had more than 20 businesses, schools, and volunteer groups participate in the festival; electronics recyclers to local service/ action groups were in attendance. Boy Scouts cleaned trash and debris from around the GVR Rec. Center and Florida Pitt Waller students prepared the holes for a tree planting that took place in conjunction with the Celebration. Sponsors also played a big part; we were able to pass out lots of great prizes and freebies for event-goers. There was music, food, and activities for all ages. Thanks to all who attended!

This year we look forward to another fun way to celebrate and learn how to help our planet. We already have many great groups coming out to share environmental education, services, products, etc. Booth space is available for just $25, non-for-profit companies and school groups are welcome free of charge. Proceeds benefit the GVR Citizens Advisory Board, which helps makes events like these possible.

Volunteers are needed throughout the planning process and the day of the event. Please join us at McAlister’s Deli for a CAB committee meeting to see how you can be involved- scheduled monthly meetings are posted on the MyGVR.org calendar.
