Happy New Year from Michael B. Hancock

By Michael B. Hancock

As 2010 makes its entrance we can all be optimistic that it seems the worst economic downturn in the last 70-plus years has finally peaked and there are signs of recovery everywhere. Certainly we are not out of the woods and no one will really breathe better until employers begin hiring. However, this is the season to count our blessings that we live in a great Nation and wonderful City. For those of us who chose the northeast part of the City to call home have experienced the impact of the recession, as evident by excessive foreclosures and decreased home values, should trust that efforts to promote sensible development and excellent schools will move our communities to the front of the line for recovery.

It is with this spirit that I hope we can enter the new year with determination and forward thinking. It is my hope you take the time this season to contemplate goals for the new year. Be sure to exhale and appreciate life. With all the challenges of this year, we have witnessed some truly amazing blessings and should expect bigger ones in 2010. Whether you live in north Park Hill, Stapleton, Montbello or Green Valley Ranch appreciate the fact you live in an area of town that has been richly blessed.

Take time to rest and enjoy the season. Enjoy time with family and let the worries of this world rest. You deserve it! Give yourself permission to breath, to smile, and to do something your heart desires. Remember to think of others and give a little of yourself to someone in need. Breathe!
