Cookies, Carolers, Santa and the Holiday Tree

Many a creature was stirring in the cold but clear night at the Green Valley Ranch Recreation Center on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Those of us who braved the cold were greeted by friendly neighbors and various local groups including Oakwood Homes, the sponsor of the event.

Hot chocolate and spiced cider warmed our bodies as the Dickens Carolers warmed our hearts by singing our favorite holiday songs. We cheered and even sang along, especially to the 12 Days of Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming To Town. Indeed he did. Santa made his rounds throughout the room giving away hugs and well wishes.

Of course Santa knew who was naughty and who was nice and also made sure we were all stamped either Naughty or Nice. Apparently it was a good year because "most" everyone got was stamped "Nice List".

The time came to go outside to light the tree. Tim Sheahan, President of the Green Valley Ranch Advisory Board counted us down from ten and the huge holiday tree was officially lit. Good cheer to all and to all a good night.
