2010 Summerfest at GVR – A Success Story
The 2010 Summerfest at GVR, which took place at the Green Valley Ranch Recreation Center and Ampitheater on August 8th was a huge success. Over 1000 residents and community members came to the event, enjoying the band, petting zoo, kid cart rides and edible goodies such as pizza from UNO Chicago and treats from Chipotle, Del Taco, Denver Water and others. Others preferred one of the two bounce houses from Blaster Bouncer, which were funded by sponsors including Green Valley Kids Dentistry and Grease Monkey. One lucky new resident, a dog adopted from the Dumb Friends League Care A Van, even got a forever home.
According to one Summerfest attendee, “Green Valley Ranch is definitely ready for these types of community events!”; a fact that was emphasized by the quantities of food, drink, dessert, and take home prizes that were given out during the first few hours of the event.
After a few solid hours of face painting, the line of children waiting for this free treat was still 20 children long. “Next year, maybe we can have two face painters!” a child was heard exclaiming. Even those who did not wait in the line for face paint got an opportunity to paint at a booth set up by a local business who will display some of the art in their offices.
Not only did the residents of Green Valley Ranch have a great time, so did the business owners, vendors and their respective volunteers, though they were hard at work serving the attendees. “Thank goodness it's so hot or we would have seen over 2000 people today” declared one booth volunteer. It was hot, but the band was great, the food was delectable, and the water, iced tea, and lemonade (thank goodness) was cold and refreshing. Thanks so much to all of our dedicated vendors, business owners and volunteers for their hard work in that baking sun!
With Green Valley Ranch showing so much growth in 2010 and new businesses cropping up so quickly, community members should expect the Summerfest at GVR 2011 event to be even bigger than this years event. Watch for signs of the event next summer. You won't want to miss this extraordinary fun filled festival.
