Neighborhood Watch Program
We are looking for Volunteers to be Neighborhood Watch Block Captains. Your duties will include organizing the Neighborhood Watch Program in your area, and being a liaison with the Denver Police Department, District Five Community Resource Officers. Block Captains will organize a block meeting where a District Five Community Resource Officer will conduct a short presentation on Crime Prevention and Personal Safety.
GVR Neighborhood Watch Program can help you get your block organized with a block party, to help create awareness in the neighborhood.
Everyone will have the opportunity to be involved in:
- Community and events happening within Green Valley Ranch.
- How to inventory your belongings for Operation ID.
- How to make your home and neighborhood safe.
- Emergency procedures during a natural disaster or terrorist threat.
- Local problems with crime and graffiti and reporting procedures.
Neighborhood Watch Programs with 85% or more participation will be certified by the Denver Police Department. Neighborhood Watch signs will be posted on the block, as well as stickers to be placed on your windows indicating your block participates in the program. The benefits not only create a safer environment, but a stronger and more helpful community. Statistics show that the Neighborhood Watch Program has lowered crime and shows the community that we are involved and invested within our community.
