Earth Day Celebration 2010: Recap
The second annual Earth Day Celebration was great fun! This year’s event had even more participants and booths than last year, though the weather seems to always be a challenge in April. Twenty-eight booths were set up in the Oakwood Homes New Home Center parking lot with vendors and non-for-profits providing information, products, entertainment and yummy food. When singers Haleigh Stewart and Sarah Quarrels were not belting out some fabulous tunes, The Denver Bronco’s Boys & Girls Club disc- jockeyed the music. Oyoyo! an African drum group also played.

Join the Green Team - Upcoming Community Event
Planning has begun for the Green Valley Ranch Earth Day Celebration on April 17, 2010. Last year we had more than 20 businesses, schools, and volunteer groups participate in the festival; electronics recyclers to local service/ action groups were in attendance. Boy Scouts cleaned trash and debris from around the GVR Rec. Center and Florida Pitt Waller students prepared the holes for a tree planting that took place in conjunction with the Celebration. Sponsors also played a big part; we were able to pass out lots of great prizes and freebies for event-goers.
